Stewardship is a way of life that makes possible incredible opportunities, most especially, the opportunity for each child in our parish to attend a Catholic School!
In the stewardship way of life, Catholic schools are parochial; they belong to the parish. They are not private schools that are owned and operated by those who use them. The Catholic Church has long placed a great emphasis upon the importance of education, as education is one of the most fundamental ways that we act on Jesus' command to form disciples. Therefore, every family in the parish is a stakeholder in the school, and makes possible this incredible gift of a Catholic education, K-8, through sacrificial giving of time, talent and treasure! What a gift!
The entire Diocese is committed to Stewardship. For this reason, parishes make every effort to make a Catholic education available to active parish stewards without charging tuition. In this regard, the Diocese of Wichita is truly unique among all the dioceses in the United States.
Stewardship begins when a disciple recognizes that everything is a gift from God and we are the stewards, or caretakers, of those gifts, but they belong to God, not to us.
Stewards develop their gifts and share them with others generously, sacrificially and willingly, particularly through their parish. That means the ministries of the parish, including Catholic schools, are the responsibility of the entire parish, not just those who use them.
